The harvesting campaign has started in Mordovia
Farms growing green peas were the first to begin work. About 500 tons of produce have already been harvested from the initial 200 hectares. This year, more than 450,000 hectares in the republic have been allocated for grain and leguminous crops. Farmers in Mordovia plan to harvest at least 1.75 million tons of grain.
Last year was a record one for Mordovia: the total grain harvest came close to 2 million tons.
“Our goal is to maintain the momentum we’ve built, ensure the republic’s food security and continue to increase the production of agricultural products, including oilseed crops. To this end, the Government is taking all the necessary measures. We are constantly monitoring the supply of fuel, machinery, plant protection products and other resources to agricultural enterprises. The harvesting campaign must be carried out in an organised way, without disruptions and within the optimal timeframe,” said Batyr Emeyev, Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Mordovia. “Now we are entering one of the most critical stages of the agricultural year. I am confident that, thanks to the professionalism and experience of our farmers, Mordovia will once again achieve a solid harvest.”
