One of the oldest bakeries in the capital of Mordovia has resumed operations
After a two‑year halt in bread production, Saransk Bakery No. 5 is returning to the market with products made to the original recipes. The investor — the Belyovskaya Pastila Manufactory Group of Companies — has completed a large‑scale reconstruction and restored the functionality of the enterprise, which has been supplying the city with bread since 1972.
A great deal of work was done before the familiar Moksha bread could be released. One of the two main stone ovens, which determines the taste and aroma of Saransk bread, has been fully restored.
Today, the plant is ready to reach its planned capacity of 30 tons of bread per day. In 2027, the repair of the two ovens will be completed, increasing the capacity to 60 tons. Production of the traditional “white” bread has already begun and it will soon be available for sale. Once the hearth baking unit is repaired, residents of Saransk will once again be able to buy the much‑loved peasant bread.
Importantly, the new owner has retained almost the entire staff — around 100 specialists. Currently, the plant employs 140 people, and the plan is to increase the headcount to 250 by 2027.
As noted, in the future the plant will become a confectionery complex of a new format. In addition to bread and bakery products, it will produce eco‑friendly, natural goods — from pastila to marshmallow. The enterprise will develop in line with the principles of the creative economy, drawing on the region’s identity, its traditions, and modern solutions.
